Nazis planned the destruction of cities through "space mirror"

Although everything sounds like moments in James Bond films, the Nazis actually had plans to build a giant space gun that would use sunlight. Mirrors, nearly two miles wide, it would take that as a magnifying glass to center the Sun's rays to a target.

Pictures from Life magazine, from 1945, showed readers how American military experts have discovered evidence that German scientists have seriously planned construction of such weapons.

Hermann Oberth was the German physicist and engineer, born in Austria-Hungary, and is considered one of the pioneers of astronautikës and missile production. His first rocket did when I was 14-years old, while the famous V-2 contained something of his ideas and inventions.

The idea of a giant space mirror was set up in 1923. Oberth has estimated that construction will cost about three million mark and installation would take about 15 years. The initial goal was that the inhabitants of the Earth offered to the rays of the Sun - as needed.

Until 1957, Oberth was convinced that his space mirrors can become a reality, as has often described his idea as "the ultimate weapon".

When the Allies in 1945 began to dig through the German military plans, discovered that the Nazis had made some modifications to the idea of Oberthit and had begun to seek opportunities of building this weapon. Although there is no official data on this, Life magazine estimated that mirrors in space is supposed to be sent in parts.
